[Account book of Amos Jones, 1794-1824].

An account book kept by blacksmith Amos Jones of Ipswich, Mass., son of Thomas and Hannah Jones. Entries concern accounts, payments, travel, deliveries, and work schedule of Jones and others. The volume also contains more than 30 scattered vital records for family members and acquaintances, mostly deaths but including several births. Many of the deaths occurred at Ipswich, according to the town's published vital records. Several entries are for the Smith family, likely relatives of Jones's wife, Elizabeth Smith. Also loose items: 11 undated papers including receipts, names, and calculations; 3 papers, dated 1814, 1820, and 1826, having to do with fence matters; and 21 miscellaneous items including receipts and notes, 1803-1838, arranged chronologically.
